Fed up with people misguidedly blaming plastics for environmental problems, when the real issue is how plastic waste is being disposed of? Look out for our #sustainableplastic posts on Twitter & LinkedIn.
Here are some facts to start with:
In order for a product or material to be truly described as sustainable it must be environmentally, economically and socially sustainable. These aspects have become known as the Three Pillars of Sustainability. Plastics make a positive contribution to all three pillars of sustainability.
Plastics actually have an excellent environmental profile. Only 4% of the world’s oil production is used for plastics and much less energy is used to produce them compared to other materials.
We at Trace PT care about the environment as much as the next person. We don’t condone any improper or unsustainable disposal of plastic products. Why would we? We all share the same planet.
It’s important that a balanced view is presented, as there is a risk that further environmental damage can be caused by ignorance of the facts about what are and what are not sustainable materials.
We ask that you look out for our posts and share them through your own social media if you feel strongly – like we do – that plastics are being scapegoated in many instances.
