We recently installed an Apex SB-1200 beam robot and conveyor system to help Daventry-based roofing products manufacturer Hambleside Danelaw meet increased demand for their injection moulded roof verge system components.
Prior to the installation, the operator had to remove the parts from the moulding machine by hand, then pack them in a separate operation.
Now, with the robot removing the parts and placing them on the conveyor, the current cycle time is reduced by 15%, increasing capacity by nearly 20%, as the operator is able to pack the parts while the machine is producing the next mould. Assuming continuous running of the machine, that works out to be a saving of roughly 78,000 minutes or 1,300 hours per year, of operator time!
An added benefit is that the conveyor can continue to process stock while the operator is on break periods. The Conveyor has a stock sensor to ensure it doesn’t over fill the product.
Hambleside Danelaw’s Sales Director, Ian Weakford, said: “The recent announcement of the Government’s plans for the construction industry to lead the economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic and proposed changes to planning laws, are creating an upsurge in demand for our roofing products. This investment is already proving its worth in meeting that demand. He continued: The team at Trace PT have expertly integrated the robot system into our existing production facility, on a very short lead time.”
